COMMISSION

Process

If you are interested in commissioning a one-of-a-kind artwork, here's the rundown of what to expect in the process.

(1) Fill out the interest form below with your information including an idea of what design you are looking for, including the size of the overall work.

(2) K.B. Newcomer will respond will an email to confirm your interest and set up a time to talk on the phone about the design, size, timeframe, and cost.

(3) If the client is interested in moving forward, he/she will sign a contract for the commission that will outline the process and initial cost estimates. A non-refundable fee of 25% of the estimated final cost of the artwork for design services is due within one week of signing the contract.

(3) Once the design service fee is received, K.B. Newcomer will complete three design sketches within one week and send to the client via email for approval. The client will select one design and a follow-up phone call will be made to discuss any further changes of this design.

(4) K.B. Newcomer will make any requested design changes within one week and send the new design back to client via email for approval. This process can occur one more time, but if more design changes are requested after that, then the client will be asked to pay an additional non-refundable 25% fee of the estimated final cost of the artwork for the extra design time.

(5) Before final approval is made, the client may choose to cancel their commission at any time without further cost. Once the design is finalized, and K.B. Newcomer begins working on the final artwork, cancellations will not be accepted. Depending on size, please allow 2-3 weeks for your commission to be completed. If a comissioned piece is needed sooner than this, please communicate early and be prepared to pay a rush fee.

(6) If interested, K.B. Newcomer is happy to send the client progress pictures of their artwork as it is being made. A photo of the final piece will be send to the client once the artwork is complete. When the artwork is completed and photo sent to the client, then the remainder of the final cost of the artwork is due within a week.

(7) Once the final payment is received, the artwork will be packaged with care, wrapped in a plastic sleeve and tissue paper, put in between sturdy cardboard or chipboard, wrapped in more packaging paper, and shipped in a rigid flat box. It will be shipped via U.S. Post Service, unless a different service is requested by the buyer. We will inform the client of the estimated shipping arrival date and provide the client with the tracking number of the package.

(8) The client will receive their one-of-a-kind papercut artwork!

COMMISSION

Commissions are first-come, first-serve, and K.B. Newcomer retains the right to decline a commission request for any reason. All commissions are done under contract.

DESIGN FEES

An initial design service fee of 25% of the estimated final cost of the work is due within one week of signing the contract. The client can request design changes up to 3 times, and any further design changes will require an additional non-refundable design service fee of 25% of the estimated final cost of the artwork. If the final cost of the artwork changes from the initial estimated cost within the contract, this will not affect these design fees.

Final Cost

The price of the commissioned artwork will be estimated in the contract before the design is finalized. The design fees will be based on the initial estimated cost presented in the contract. Once the design is finalized and approved by the client, the final cost will be calculated and communicated to the client. Final costs will included shipping fees.

Cancellations & Returns

Commissioned artworks can only be cancelled anytime without penalty before the contract is signed. Once the contract is signed, the client may cancel his/her commission at any time but is still required to pay the non-refundable design fee of 25% of the estimated final cost of the work. After design is approved by the client, no cancellations are possible, due to the unique nature of a one-of-a-kind commission.
