"Compass Rose"
Size: 5" x 7"
Papercut Art on archival paper with printed vintage map for background.
Direction on a map is shown by the symbol called a "compass rose." On vintage maps, this was a highly decorated pointer of the cardinal directions: north, south, east, west. Although it is customary to position a map such that North points to the top of the map, it is by no means required.
No matter which direction life takes you, may this "Compass Rose" guide your path with truth and beauty. Beauty may be found in the old, in the difficult, in the unknown, and even in the mundane. May every new direction in life be seen as an adventure worth exploring.
Created as part of the Cartography of Flowers Collection.
This papercut art piece was hand-cut from one sheet of white archival paper and matted to decorated paper featuring a printed vintage map of North and South America. At the center of the small floral bouquet is an open rose surrounded by rose buds and various leaves.
